Dr. Katelyn Grusecki

Licensed Psychologist & Expert Clinician

at TASC Psychology,

where your journey begins with accessible, personalized & effective care.

Individuals initiate services with me at TASC Psychology for a variety of reasons. As the most commonly sought after service, I provide individual, group and relationship therapyIn therapy, I work well with individuals who feel “stuck” with the same problems or patterns; however, most of the individuals I see don’t just have one “issue” and are motivated to explore various aspects of their life. I specialize in the treatment of depressive, anxiety, substance use, and sleep disorders. I also work with adults who have concerns related to their relationships, their ability to regulate emotions and control their behavior or how they respond to situations. My work with couples commonly centers around communication, intimacy, infidelity, and making decisions related to the future of their relationship.

In addition to therapy, I provide psychological assessment, independent supervision, and consultation services. I accept referrals for diagnostic, forensic and other evaluations on a case-by-case basis in order to devote the majority of my time to therapy and supervision and to fully delineate my work at TASC from other professional capacities.

“In my early years I was asking the question, ‘How can I treat, cure, or change this person?’ Now I would phrase the question this way: ‘How can I provide a relationship which this person may use for his or her own personal growth?’”

—Carl Rogers 1980/95

To You & Our Work Together

throughout which growth & support run parallel.

A relationship you start with the intention of ending,

The majority, if not all the individuals with whom I work start a clinical relationship with me with the intention of ending it. While this goal-oriented perspective informs my work, at the core of my approach is the belief that you are inherently complete and possess the capacity to live a meaningful and fulfilling life.

I strongly believe in and exclusively use evidence-based, best practices. In therapy, I take an integrative approach, meaning I draw upon my expertise to carefully combine “top down” therapies with “bottom up” approaches including Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), and other mindfulness-based treatments to emphasize inter- and intra- personal awareness, our relationship to our thoughts, and the mind-body connection. I take a non-pathologizing approach to assessment, where you persist as the focal point throughout every step of the process. I use a competency-based model as the foundation of supervision and consultation to support emerging therapists and licensed professionals navigate complexities and advance their practice.

My approach will help you enhance awareness to your emotions, develop an openness to your thoughts, and better understand your patterns without judgment.

While I spend a lot of time listening, the individuals with whom I work feel my investment in their journey and growth, regardless of the nature or duration of our work together. They describe our work as conversational, productive, and insightful. They feel supported and safe, accepted and validated, valued and empowered throughout our work together. They feel confident in their own capacities and equipped with life changing tools, as they continue to navigate life with resilience long after our work concludes.

With over a decade of experience, I maintain a commitment to providing accessible & effective services that seamlessly fit your life.

My Background

  • As my highest level of education, I was awarded my doctoral degree as a Doctor of Psychology (PsyD) from Pepperdine University. Prior to this, I completed my Masters of Art (MA) in Clinical Psychology, with an Emphasis in Marriage and Family Therapy from Pepperdine. I completed my undergraduate education at Creighton University.

Since 2008, I have worked with a diverse range of individuals in hospitals, private clinics, governmental organizations, and state-operated facilities throughout Southern California. I completed a one-year predoctoral internship in the Forensic Track at New York University | Bellevue Hospital Center and the Kirby Forensic Psychiatric Center, which is accredited by the American Psychological Association (APA). I then completed a postdoctoral fellowship at Mendota Mental Health Institute (MMHI), where I received specialize training in forensic psychology.

  • As a licensed psychologist, I maintain a dual focus in clinical and forensic psychology. Outside of TASC Psychology, I am employed by the Department of Health Services (DHS) as a psychologist on a maximum-security, admission unit. There, I conduct forensic evaluations and psychological assessment. I have been qualified by the courts in the State of Wisconsin to provide expert testimony in criminal matters on over 100 occasions. As a member of the training committee, I provide supervision for individuals working towards completion of their doctoral degrees. Additionally, have worked in private practice since 2021, providing therapy, assessment, and clinical supervision.

  • I participate in continuing education related to the maintenance of my license and towards advancing my expertise.

I remain involved with professional organizations and I am a senior member of the Dane County Food Collective (DCFC) as a co-chair of the Health & Wellness Committee.

Outside of work, I spend time with my family and friends, working out, trying to keep up with my partner and dogs, and continuously redefining my sense of balance, similar to most other humans.
